Wealthy Canadians still shop while others reduce

A survey by WIN-Leger marketing reveals the global recession has caused consumers to tighten spending, though in Canada, not as much.

For example:

Globally, about 45 per cent cut grocery spending.

In Canada, 36 per cent did so.

Globally, 33 per cent cut spending on mobile phones.

In Canada, 22 per cent.

A few figures don’t supply absolute proof, but I think Canadians are doing pretty well compared to many other countries.

So well, in fact, we’re also world leaders in greenhouse gas production.

Gives new meaning to the “shop until we drop” mentality.
