From the front porch in black and white

Last year the leaves from the apricot tree fell in mid-October after an early snow.

The weight of the snow and ice snapped two large branches off the tree and I considered taking the tree down.

I'm glad I didn't.

It has survived well and, with the help of a nearby fir, shelters the path to my front door.

The fir once had a partner but at the first sign of trouble (the needles turned yellow) my wife took a saw to it.

My gosh. I'd better stay healthy.

hi bobbie,

the scars are visible from the front sidewalk but I can live with that, and the tree lives with the scars as well.
