This Old Economist: Should we ask women for more taxes?

Why ask that question?

I read the following from “Rich Canadians charitably minded”:

“Almost two-thirds of wealthy Canadians plan to give away between 1 and 3% of their wealth this year...” (Nov. 15, London Free Press)

In other words, many Canadians, including a lot of women I bet, are in the mood to help out others.

And this:

“91% of women say it is important to give back to their community” (vs 72% of men).

If women could be convinced that the future of Canada as a country is as important, if not more so, than their community, should we not ask them for more help through taxes? (I.e., in light of Canada’s growing debt).
