The Workshop: Warm cedar inside a cold shop

A friend recently called and left, in part, the following message:

“I came by. You weren’t home. I left something on your front porch.”

As long as there’s not a brown paper bag on fire out there I’ll be happy, I thought, and then took a look.

The pile of cedar cutoffs from a fence project made me very happy. They were soon transported to my shop.

Though it was cold inside, the place was instantly warmed by the look and smell of the cedar planks, and this afternoon - if my plan comes together - I'll turn a few of them into a bird feeder and unique birdhouse.

Stay tuned.
