The large single-family homes (below) have enough floor space inside - 6 in. wide, 6 in. deep, 8 in. high - to accommodate a happy couple of birds and several fledglings.
And because I’ve noticed chickadees in the backyard, perhaps to raise their second brood of the season, I’d better get busy and finish off the last few jobs related to six singles and three two-tone blue, ranch-style triplexes.
On the single’s to-do list -
signage for the front face, e.g., “Free Accommodation”
for interest, framed windows on one side
metals signs on the other side, for colour and interest
On the tri-plex’s to-do list -

second coat of paint on Canadian flag
paint raw cedar trim a light blue
place one on a sturdy pole for display
Though the big tri-plexes are a lot of work, I am amply rewarded whenever I see a few birds snooping around (“Hey, Sweetie. Let’s settle down in this one. It comes with a TV room.”) and pecking seeds off the porch and roof.
