"Is it a bird? Mighty Mole?" 7

The dig in my yard continues. As I remove snow here and there from an icy mound with a hand trowel I spot tunnels heading every which way.

["Millions of seeds have been scattered"]

["It ain't pretty. I've got some cleaning up to do!"]

My thoughts about the tunnels:

They are at various levels because seed got tossed off the feeder by birds every week during the winter.

Seeds are everywhere, so tunnels are everywhere.

Will I find a second cache of sunflower seeds?

Why am I digging? As the sun shines the tunnels will reveal themselves.
