We all knew the HST would cost us more but...

Now, Premier McGuinty is filling in a few more details.

The HST is ‘an aid to help Ontario businesses compete in the global marketplace.’ (Editorial, May 5, London Free Press)

(Isn’t that why he’s sending kids off to school at an earlier age too? Must businesses and the economy get every break around here?)

The HST is a deliberate shift of the overall tax burden from businesses to families, says the editorial.

Good idea? Should corporate tax levels drop further? Further? Then further, especially if Joe Q. Public is expected to cover the losses to tax coffers?

I don’t think it’s fair. But it is a federal Conservative idea and ideal.

This tax shifting is ‘an approach promoted, embraced and subsidized’ by our federal masters.

I think it’s time for a change in philosophy and governing party.

Vote for me.
